The Mental Health Routine That Actually Works for Me

Let's get after it!

Chow Hall Chatter was built for those who’ve served, supported, or simply shown up through life’s toughest chapters — and are now ready to lead with clarity, grit, and purpose.

Made by vets. Built for humans. Always real.

Everyone talks about “perfect morning routines” — meditation, journaling, cold showers, gratitude, and on and on. But in real life, especially juggling family and work, a simple, realistic routine is what sticks.

Here’s mine:

  • Wake up 10 minutes before the rest of the house: This gives me a quiet moment to myself before the chaos starts. #water&coffee

  • One small win before noon: Whether it’s making the bed, sending a quick email, or finishing a chore, this builds momentum.

  • Daily sunlight and hydration: I try to spend at least 10 minutes outside and drink water throughout the day.

  • End the day on purpose: No doomscrolling before bed. Instead, I listen to an audiobook or listen to calming music while tiddying up.

This routine isn’t flashy, but it helps me feel grounded and less overwhelmed. Try starting with just one or two habits — small wins matter.
